Meet the Music Director

Kenneth Meints

The 2011-12 season marks Mr. Kenneth Meints' sixth year as music director and conductor of Orchestra Omaha. Prior to his appointment in 2006, he conducted both student and adult orchestras in Illinois, California and Nebraska. He received a Master of Music degree in trombone from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is nearing completion of a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

With teaching experience that spans the spectrum from preschool general music to university courses in trombone, theory and performing ensembles, Mr. Meints is a strong advocate for arts education in the schools and community. His recent work in area schools includes clinics with the OPS middle school bands and orchestras, directing the Millard All-District High School Orchestra concert, as well as the Great Plains Orchestral Institute. Mr. Meints is an Associate Professor of Music at Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska, and also teaches trombone and conducting at the Omaha Conservatory of Music.
